Clinical
Supervision
Supervision is not only essential for growth within the social work practice but is required on the journey of becoming a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. The clinical supervision I received as a licensed clinical social worker-associate (LCSW-A) impacted the work that I conducted with clients. Supervision should be informative, supportive, honest, and encouraging.
I believe in counselor development. With this in mind, the supervisee’s individual learning style, experrence level, and stage of counselor development are considered when making a plan of how supervision will be conducted with the supervisee. Various methods and techniques are utilized in clinical supervision such as audio/videotape review and self report. The supervisee is supported through clinical supervision on their journey to be fully licensed.
Supervision is not only for the new clinician but is important for continued growth within the field. I support clinicians whom are not new to the field, however, want to continue to fine-tune their clinical skills.
